Climate Change and Your Health
Tuesday, March 1 | 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm
Climate Change impacts human health in numerous ways from disruptions caused by the physical environmental to biological systems. Warm temperatures, extreme weather, changes in precipitation and rising sea levels can have serious impacts on our health affecting our food supply, drinking water and air quality. Learn how climate change is impacting us locally and how we can prepare ourselves to deal with its impacts. Presented by Credit Valley Conservation.
The Buzz on Bees
Wednesday, March 2 | 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Endangered wild bees are vital pollinators for food crops and native plants. How can we save them? Dr. Sheila Colla shares how to spot misleading ‘bee-washing’ and take real conservation action. Presented by the Native Pollinator Research Lab, York University.
Cooking with Seasonal Ingredients
Thursday, March 3 | 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Cooking with local food is a great way to reduce your impact on the environment, support local farmers, and is often more flavourful and healthier for you! In the late winter months and early spring, it can sometimes be more difficult to find fresh, local produce, and easy to get stuck in the same recipes. Learn about seasonal vegetables, how to support local farmers, and new recipes in this workshop. Presented by Ecosource.
