The Kitchener Horticultural Society, the Waterloo Region Master Gardeners and the Kitchener Public Library have come together to organize an in-person event on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at the main library on Queen St. in Kitchener.

Seed swap ~ Seminars ~ Exhibits

Presentation schedule:

10:15-11:00 – Heather Kelly (Master Gardeners)

Invasive Plants in our own backyards: Invasive plant  species have become increasingly prevalent in our  environment. There are many that unwary gardeners buy at  garden centres and plant in their flower beds. These are the ones we’ll look at in the seminar.

11:15 – 12:00 – Cathy Nesbitt (Cathy Crawly Composters,  Cathy’s Sprouters, Cathy’s Laughter Yoga, Organo Gold)

The Simplicity of Sprouts, The Origin of Fast Food,  Grow your own at home, school, work.

12:15 – 1:00 – Christine Gilhuly (Master Gardeners)

Successful Seed Starting. Many gardeners who are new to  starting seeds indoors are often discouraged by seeds that  don’t sprout, weak and spindly seedlings or disease  problems. We just have to remember that seeds want to  grow and we only need to provide the best conditions we can  for them to do their thing.

1:15 – 2:00 –Becca Robinson (Green Infrastructure Design and Project Lead Reep Green Solutions)

Healthy Yards: How your yard can help protect the  Grand River, reduce flood risk, and boost biodiversity
